A Christian Writing Romantica
"You are a hypocrite for saying that you are a Christian and also writing stories that contain
sexually explicit material."
I have had that comment hurled at me many times since I began writing (first as Short Stories
and then as full length E-Books). The accusation has again arisen since I joined MySpace. The accusation always
amuses me. Why do people see believing in Christ and being Saved and also enjoying sex as being mutually exclusive?
Obviously these people have never read their Bibles.
The Bible, especially in the New Testament Book of Corinthians discusses at length the role
of sex not only for procreation but also to bring much pleasure to married couples. It exhorts men (to whom The
Creator naturally gave a strong sex drive) to remain faithful to their wives and to have sex only with them. It
also specifically instructs the wives to not deny themselves sexually to their husbands. In fact The Bible states that
if a wife refuses to have sex with her husband and he then strays then the fault is charged to the wife. I will add
the caveat that many Christian wives will have sex with their husbands without actually participating themselves in order
to fulfill this Biblical instruction. That is a mistake. Christian women are permitted to enjoy sex as much as
the men are and to deny yourself the knowledge of the full gamut of sexual fulfillment is not Biblical. That is
unfortunatley an idea that the Catholic Church has fostered off during its hundreds year old reign on most
of the world. Due to the teachings of the Catholic Church many Christian women believe that sex is for procreation only
and not to be enjoyed equally by both men and women even withing a marriage, A Christian woman who enjoys her
sexuality and does not run from it was considered to be a loose woman or in more common terms a hypocrite.
The King James Bible AV 1611 does not support the erroneous teachings of the Catholic Church.
With that being clarified I will go back to the original question. I see no conflict with
stating that I am a Christian and also in writing stories that contain sexually explicit material. The people who see
a conflict have obviously never read any of my work. I do not write about adulterous relationships; I do not write
about any homosexual relationships; I do not write about BDSM relationships; I do not write about any rapes; nor any
bestiality. My work is always stories where one single woman (always over the age of 45) meets and falls in love
with one single man. They do have sexual encounters that are described exactly as great sexual encounters actually are.
The key thing to remember is that both protagonists in these stories are single when they meet and they do fall in love and
marry by the end of the story or E-Book.
Falling in love with the right person , marrying that person , and enjoying a rich and rewarding
sex life is one of the most beautiful things that can happen to a person in this life. It makes all the difference
between merely existing and truly living. It is indeed a gift from God to make living in this world of woe more
palatable. I see nothing hypocritical about writing about this gift from God anymore than I would call it hypocritical
for a Christian to write a good cookbook extolling the pleasure to be derived from all of the wonderful food that God gave
us to eat. If I did include sexual scenes that involved adultery, rape, homosexuality, bestiality, orgies, or relationships
where the couples did not marry I might agree with those who call me a hypocrite.
From my perspective the only part of my work that could be construed as being contrary to being
a Christian is that the couples do have sex before they marry. Of course, The Bible does not advocte that.
So in that one respect I am wrting something that strays from Christian beliefs. However, I am also a realist.
I know of few people even among Christians who do not ever have sex before marriage. That is simply the way that it
is. I also know that if said people are Saved then Christ will forgive thme their transgressions.
Christinas do sin.
If a Christian ever tells you that they do not sin then they are lying to you. But
Christ clearly forgives those sins providing you have accepted Him as your Lord and Savior.
After reading all of this if you still do not understand me or why I write
what I do then relax. It is not necessary that you understand me. Anymore than it is necessary
that I understand you.
